The Device Test Stand is an air flow test system for various engine control devices those are required to reduce exhaust gas emissions from engine or to improve engine performance and to save fuel ecomy. The system is able to test the devices with vaious prssure conditions (including weak vacuum) since the system has a small test chamber and a pulsation flow generator. It can also be done the wide range of flow tests since the system equips several range of laminar flowmeters.
Applications and Purposes
An accurate control, good repeatability and long term durability of devices are strongly required for the modern regulatory vehicles to reduce exhaust emissions and to improve fuel economy under wide range of engine conditions. Therefore the system is able to make tests near actual on-board air flow rate conditions for those devices.
The upstream air flow rate including the pulsation flow cntroled by the inlet or outlet pressure of the device is accurately measured by a laminar flowmeter with a HEPA filter which is installed before the high airtight chamber.
There are a series of laminar flow meters in order to cover the wide dynamic flow range of various devices. One of the feature for laminar flowmeter is low pressure drop across the meter, so that the devices are not affected by the flowmeter without the implementation conditions of devices.

The system can measure the air flow rate across an engine control device with laminar flowmeter in the sealed chamber by controling the inlet/outlet pressure to the device.
The system also cover the wide range with several type of laminar flowmeters and can test the complicated structure of devices in order to enclose them in the sealed test chamber.
The laminr flowmeter ensures accuracy on the air flow rate and minimize the impact on the flow characteristics for the engine control devices since its low pressure drop in rated air flow rate.
An automatic pressure control valve controls the inlet/outlet pressure of devices by setting any control value. The system also can be operated pre-programmed pressure control.
